From the Working Class, to Private Enterprises
It has been reported that the government is planning to misuse the Employment Stabilization Fund to provide earthquake relief money.
Professor Chen Hsin-hsing of Shih-hsin University stated that the government has mostly provided loans to victims of the earthquake. Yet the government has given low-interest loans to companies in quake-stricken areas to convince them to remain. The Employment Stabilization Fund represents the unemployment of a large number of local workers and high exploitation of migrant workers. By giving loans to employers from this fund, it is just another example of "taking from the workers, giving to the bosses," heightening the tensions between employees outside the quake areas and victims of the quake.
